Céline Dion broke down in tears as she took the stage in Paris, marking her first headlining performance in six years. The singer opened her long-awaited residency at the Plénitude Arena on Saturday, September 12, in front of a packed crowd. The emotional opening night is only the beginning of Céline Dion’s return to live performance. The original Paris engagement was expanded in April with six additional 2026 dates after overwhelming demand, turning the comeback into a much larger event than the limited engagement initially announced. The official Paris schedule now stretches through October, with Dion set to perform a selection of her biggest French and English-language hits.

And the demand did not stop there. In June, Dion announced 10 additional shows at Paris La Défense Arena for May 2027, giving previously registered fans another opportunity to see the singer after many struggled to secure tickets for the 2026 performances. The added dates run from May 8 through May 29, with the production designed by award-winning show designer Willo Perron and produced by Concerts West/AEG Presents and Inter Concerts.

Dion has spent decades singing about heartbreak, devotion, survival and the kind of emotions that are difficult to contain. On Saturday night, she did not need a lyric to communicate what the return meant. The tears before the first song became part of the performance itself.
