Cardi B Secures Major Win as Judge Dismisses Copyright Claim

In the past few years, Cardi B has drawn attention for reasons beyond her music career. She previously made headlines over an assault and battery lawsuit, in which she was ultimately found not liable. Following this big win in September 2025, the Grammy-winning rapper has now earned yet another legal win this month.

The singer had been dealing with a $50 million copyright infringement lawsuit. It recently gained traction again after the judge declared the final verdict.

A Texas judge dismissed the $50 million copyright infringement case against Cardi B. Back in July 2024, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar claimed that the Grammy-winning artist’s song 'Enough (Miami)' was copied from their track 'Greasy Frybread' and had profited from it. 'Greasy Frybread' was earlier featured in the FX series Reservation Dogs.

They also alleged that Cardi B’s release harmed their reputation and led to them being “blacklisted,” as reported by People. However, Cardi B’s attorneys argued that Fraustro and Aguilar’s song was not protected by copyright at the time of filing. They further noted that the pair had secured a copyright registration for 'Greasy Frybread' on October 31, 2025, which was nearly a year after filing the lawsuit.

Later, the plaintiffs urged that Texas law be applied to the case since the singer had performed in the state. However, the judge dismissed their attempt and further added that it would be “futile” to allow them to file another amendment. This is yet another win for Cardi B, who faced an assault and battery lawsuit in the past.

But even while dealing with the legal battles, she had stayed focused on her personal and professional life. Soon after welcoming her fourth child in November, the singer returned to her music career and promised to focus on herself. She released her newest album, 'Am I The Drama?'
