BTS completely took over the 2026 American Music Awards with a dramatic performance of ‘Hooligan’ from ‘Arirang’. Filmed during the group’s Las Vegas stadium run, the cinematic performance instantly exploded across social media with red visuals, black outfits, and BTS’ signature stage energy. Alongside the performance, the group also secured Artist of the Year, Best Male K-Pop Artist, and Song of the Summer for ‘Swim’, marking BTS’ first Artist of the Year win since 2021 before their military hiatus paused their activities. Earlier, RM had explained the group wanted to keep “exploring” and pushing boundaries with their comeback era.
“I’ve been saying to the members, ‘If we don’t challenge anymore, then I think there’s no reason that we should keep doing this as a team,’” RM told Rolling Stone.
This year’s AMAs additionally turned into a massive night for K-pop and fandom-driven music domination overall. ‘Golden’ from K-Pop Demon Hunters won Song of the Year and Best Pop Song, while KATSEYE secured three major wins, including New Artist of the Year. Songs like ‘SWIM’, ‘Hooligan’, ‘Aliens’, and ‘FYA’ quickly exploded across charts as the group entered what fandoms are already calling BTS’s biggest comeback era yet.

Alongside the album, BTS also launched the massive BTS WORLD TOUR ‘Arirang’, currently being described as the largest global K-pop tour ever. Meanwhile, BTS also brought back what fans missed the most, Run BTS 2.0, earlier on April 7, 2026.
