2024 is the year of musical greatness. Hence, from Taylor Swift to Beyoncé, every music mogul has their share of contributions to make their stay prominent. As a result, amidst the highlights of controversy between the 14-time Grammy winner and the two-time Oscar-winner, Billie Eilish, the latter ensured that her absence was nowhere felt in the discussions of successful musical prodigies. Eilish joined Swift and Beyoncé in the third position in Global Spotify’s list of Top 3 Biggest Album Debuts of the Year.

Leading the pack is the 34-year-old pop star who reigns a legion of fans called Swifties with 314.5 million sales records of the record-breaking ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Following closely is the country music star, Queen Bey, with 76.6 million album sales generated from her latest record, ‘Cowboy Carter’. Lastly, Eilish dominates the final position in the Top 3 with 72.7 million sales for her latest ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ album, launched on May 17.

Taylor Swift was recently in the face of wrath from Billie Eilish fans after the former released three new variants of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ a day before the latter’s third studio album, ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ released. Fans quickly resurfaced with an interview of Eilish that portrayed how she seemingly took a dig at Swift when she criticized musicians who release multiple vinyl variants. “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is,” said Eilish in a Billboard interview in March.

Though after the fan speculations of a brewing beef, Eilish cleared herself on her Instagram stories by retaliating at fans who have been “putting words” in her mouth rather than reading what she meant in the Billboard article. Hence, Eilish joining Swift and Beyoncé in Spotify’s Top 3 artist with the biggest album debut is a victory that underscores that neither of their successes was hurdled by the other since there is no bigger piece of evidence than the status of an artist’s reception.
