Amidst Kendrick Lamar and Drake Feud, Ye Might Have Picked a Side

Published 03/26/2024, 10:28 PM EDT

For what seems like an eternity, fans have been waiting for Kendrick Lamar to drop back into their playlists. Little did they know that his comeback in the wee hours of Friday morning would also bring the first major rap beef of 2024. Lamar's verse on 'Like That' may have been a one-two punch aimed straight at Drake and J. Cole. No sugar-coating it- he straight-up said, “You can't touch me". While fans were caught up in dissecting the interpersonal dynamics and speculating about the motives of all the rappers behind the scenes, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, may have just picked his side.

Recently, the 'Donda' rapper dropped a hint about which side he is backing in this whole beef, setting the stage for what looks like a massive showdown.

In one way or another, Ye is connected to all the players involved in this beef. This is the only reason why his interference in this feud could fan the flames even higher. But the 46-year-old may have just done that anyway. Recently, Ye posted an Instagram story about his 2016 track ‘No More Parties In LA’, featuring Kendrick Lamar. Given the past trend, it will not take the internet long to link this to Ye backing Lamar against J. Cole and Drake. Interestingly, there is also a theory suggesting that Lamar has slung some mud at Ye as well.

Kendrick Lamar allegedly sampled the same track that Ye and The Game collaborated on in 2022, 'Eazy', leading fans to speculate it was a diss aimed at Ye. However, given the ‘Graduation’ creator’s track record, if it were indeed a diss, the world would have likely seen some sort of response by now. Yet, his silence, coupled with the recent story sharing, suggests that the theory holds little to no truth. Plus, there are several compelling reasons why backing Lamar might be a more logical choice for Ye.

Some of the most popular Kanye West's beefs have been with Drake and J Cole. With the 2024 battleground set to host the giants of the rap world, here is a brief rundown of Ye's clashes with the players.

The feud between Drake and Ye has been a prominent fixture in the public eye for over a decade. Their once-cordial relationship deteriorated due to a series of misunderstandings. From engaging in verbal sparring matches to dropping references in tweets, emojis, lyrics, and diss tracks during the late 2010s, particularly surrounding Ye's close confidant Pusha-T, their feud has only deepened over time. And if there is one artist known for throwing just as many punches as Drake, it is none other than J. Cole.

Ye and J Cole have had their fair share of encounters over the years. It began when J. Cole intentionally scheduled his album release on the same day as Ye's. Despite the endless game of apologies, and rumored settlements, the Cold War never really ended between the two. But now, with Kendrick Lamar's diss thrown at both Drake and J. Cole, Ye might seize the chance to settle his longstanding beef with the rappers.
