Country music has found one of its loudest success stories in Nate Smith, and thankfully, it has nothing to do with amplifiers. After losing his home in California's devastating 2018 Camp Fire, Smith turned heartbreak into momentum with 'One of These Days' before TikTok catapulted 'Wildfire' into the spotlight. Platinum hits like 'Whiskey On You' and the record-tying 'World on Fire' soon made him one of the genre's fastest-rising stars.
Now, Smith's 70-pound weight loss is earning almost as much applause as his chart-topping songs, and he already has another fitness milestone waiting backstage.

After already losing more than 70 pounds, Nate Smith has a fresh milestone in mind: getting below 200 pounds, with an ultimate goal of reaching 185. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Sports Illustrated and Tight End University's Tight Ends & Friends Concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville on June 23, the country singer shared that he had previously weighed around 275 pounds and is determined to keep going.
“Keeping the energy on stage and making sure I do that, because I think that takes care of the fans,” Smith said, explaining the driving force behind his transformation. For the 'Whiskey on You' hitmaker, better fitness is not simply about appearance. It is about delivering stronger performances and ensuring concertgoers receive the high-energy show they expect.
Smith also told PEOPLE that everyday life feels dramatically different after the weight loss. He said he finally enjoys wearing clothes he actually likes, proudly revealing that the outfit he wore to the event was a size large after spending the previous five or six years in double XL. That milestone, he admitted, feels every bit as rewarding as the shrinking number on the scale.
Pop culture fans have barely finished searching for Taylor Swift's wedding photos, and they already have a new obsession: Nate Smith's 70-pound transformation routine.
Into Nate Smith's fitness routine
Nate Smith’s fitness regimen is less about rigid gym schedules and more about turning everyday life into sustained movement. According to Muscle & Fitness Magazine and a backstage Q&A at the Stagecoach Festival, the country singer treats his high-energy 90-minute concerts as his primary cardio workout. Constant stage movement effectively replaces traditional training sessions with performance-driven endurance work.

Beyond the stage, Smith supports his routine with brisk morning walks covering just over a mile and occasional backpacking trips through national parks, including Yosemite National Park. He also credits a disciplined approach to nutrition shaped by his brother, Kyle Smith, focusing on high-protein, lower-calorie meals and reduced alcohol intake. Together, these habits powered his 70-pound transformation and continue fueling his evolving fitness goals.
