Kanye West, now known as Ye, and Playboi Carti have reunited in Los Angeles, and fans did not see it coming. The pair once powered a partnership so productive that 'Carnival' reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024. Then Carti released 'MUSIC' in March 2025; West did not appear on it as a rapper, and the friendship went up in flames online. Months of awkward distance followed.

As fans were still bracing for another round of online drama, a single video arrived to settle the mood, and the dress code was strictly black.

A video on X shows Kanye West and Playboi Carti arriving together at ComplexCon 2026 in Los Angeles on October 4. Both wore black outfits, which gave the arrival a perfectly matched look. They later posed for photos with Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and his daughter, North West. The reunion marks their first public appearance together since the fallout. Fans online called the link-up unexpected, given how bitter the split looked.

@Complex posted the video on X, adding to a pile of fan clips that included early footage from accounts such as @Kurrco. Carti was no ordinary attendee, since he serves as co-artistic director of the event alongside Hiroshi Fujiwara. He also headlined the Sunday night concert at Crypto.com Arena, joined by Destroy Lonely and F1lthy. The duo kept things casual by playing basketball with fans on the floor.

Playboi Carti & Ye: A Timeline of an Unlikely Friendship

ComplexCon delivered the casual link-up, but West had already staged a far more dramatic entrance at a stadium last week.

Just last week, Kanye West shared a behind-the-scenes clip from his surprise appearance at the Chris Brown and Usher concert at SoFi Stadium. He posted it on his Instagram Story. The clip captures Runaway blasting through the speakers as he heads to the stage. He then rises from beneath the floor wearing black leather and a matching mask. Brown appears to be the person who greets him with a handshake.

West also performed a few more songs, including 'Flashing Lights' and 'All of the Lights.' Brown and Usher also welcomed guests such as Nelly, Lil Baby, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Ashanti, Future, and Method Man. The crowd cheered for West, a generous reception after the backlash over his antisemitic comments. Add ComplexCon, and West has two surprise appearances in weeks. West and Playboi Carti are back in the same frame.
