Worrying news has cast a shadow of doubt over the biggest night for BTS in years. BIGHIT MUSIC revealed the day before their much-awaited reunion performance at Gwanghwamun Square that RM, Kim Namjoon, will play a restricted role tomorrow due to an ankle injury that happened while rehearsing for the show.
According to the music company, the diagnosis of RM included a talus contusion with ligament injury and inflammation, a partial ligament tear, and an accessory navicular sprain. A somewhat complicated situation, which has led his doctors to recommend that he limit his activity and wear a cast for at least two weeks.
The rapper is still determined to attend the concert in spite of the injury. BIGHIT MUSIC clarified in an official statement that RM's on-stage choreography and moves would be restricted to avoid further ankle injury. In order to protect the artist's well-being while enabling him to take part in the symbolic performance. The company further emphasized that the decision was reached after extensive consultation with medical experts and the artist himself.
For BTS fans, it is not just a concert; it is their chance to see their favorite band reunited after a long time, and that is why RM himself addressed the fans after the injury.
RM’s dedication to the BTS fandom
After the injury, it was confirmed that RM should not be exerting himself physically much and should keep his movements to a minimum. But he has, after careful discussion with his doctors and experts, decided to be on stage, not performing, but cheering everyone on. He let the fans know of his condition and his resolve.
“I will be on stage to meet you, I will be singing and hyping everyone up, and I will try hard to recover for the concert. Please do not worry, because it is not as serious,” he said to the fans. He explained himself and his injury, assuring them that he would be present on the stage just for them, so they should look forward to the concert.
