Labrinth issued a new statement via Instagram story on April 11, 2026, after Sam Levinson claimed to Rolling Stone that he did not know why his music was missing from Euphoria season 3.

"PEOPLE WILL COMFORTABLY LIE IN THIS INDUSTRY AND STILL CALL THEMSELVES HONEST PEOPLE," the composer wrote.

"I DECIDED TO REMOVE WHAT EVER MUSIC I HAD IN IT"

The composer added, "I SPOKE TO HBO AS FAR AS I KNOW WE ARE COOL"

"WHEN I WORK FOR SOMEONE, THEIR VISION IS PARAMOUNT TO ME BUT I DONT LET PEOPLE TREAT ME LIKE S***.”

Sam Levinson spoke to Rolling Stone about the split following a public social media post by Labrinth on March 12. Although the composer expressed extreme frustration with the industry and the show, Levinson claimed he did not know the cause. He noted that the artist was an incredible collaborator. The creative direction of the series is moving toward a drastically different auditory landscape under new leadership.

Hans Zimmer has now taken full control of the third season, influencing his specific vision for the screen this time around.

This direct counter-narrative suggests a deep rift that professional courtesy can no longer hide. The ethereal score of the first two seasons provided a unique identity that defined the entire Euphoria experience. However, Hans Zimmer has been appointed as the sole composer for the third season to facilitate a significant tonal shift, as confirmed by Rolling Stone.

According to Rolling Stone, the creator is unambiguous about why Hans Zimmer was the right choice for the upcoming episodes. Levinson spoke about season 3 and credits the two-time Oscar-winner for bringing a "cinematic" and "old-fashioned Hollywood Western" feel to Season 3.

Labrinth's exit now marks the end of a legendary partnership. Although the project was initially announced as a collaboration between the two composers, Zimmer will now work alone. The final result will be a Western-inspired score that reveals itself over the course of eight episodes.
