Taylor Swift is still unexplored. Yes, she is an incredible performer, a gifted songwriter, and knows how to create tracks that stick with you. But her potential as a filmmaker is still unfolding. Swift first stepped into directing with the 2010 music video 'Mine,' which she co-directed with Roman White. However, her first major directorial work to gain recognition on the awards circuit came with All Too Well: The Short Film. Now, Swift is earning even more praise as a director.

Taylor Swift has been earning plenty of praise lately as a director, including from Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who also made his directorial debut this year. In an interview with The Film Stage, Prieto shared his thoughts on Swift’s upcoming venture into filmmaking. “I really admire her as a director,” he said. “She comes up with wonderful ideas, she’s a leader, and a joy to work with, added Pedro Páramo director. Prieto has worked with Swift before for the music video, 'Fortnight'.

When Swift accepted her 2024 MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year, she made sure to thank Rodrigo Prieto for helping bring her vision to life. But Prieto is not the only one who is impressed by the pop star's directorial skills. Shawn Levy, the director behind the biggest movie of 2024, also had some great things to say about Swift.
