Taylor Swift won an Emmy Award in 2015. She took home the award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media - Original Interactive Program, for AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience. Her win came through owing to the 360-degree interactive app connected to her 'Blank Space' music video, which she executive-produced and performed in. However, the app is no longer available for new downloads.

The innovative app, American Express Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience, centered around Swift's hit from her iconic album '1989,' let users explore a 360° view of the music video mansion, interact with characters, and solve a puzzle for a secret surprise. It would also offer access to behind-the-scenes content, music videos, or allow users to purchase the album. Despite being a decade-old glory, an Emmy win pushed Swift one step closer to attaining the rare EGOT distinction, along with her fellow legendary competitors who have also bagged the Emmys time and again.

Although the Emmys are not focused on music, they do recognize musical talent, and some of pop music's most famous names have clinched several victories at the Television Academy's awards ceremony.

Inside the musical side of the Emmy Awards

The esteemed Emmys are famed for recognizing the creative talent behind an original song or interactive show. For instance, the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics gives awards for outstanding original song written for television. A handful of music's biggest stars have also bagged Emmy awards for their contributions to television. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which not only recognize the behind-the-scenes heroes of filmmaking that make a binge session worthwhile, also cater to music and lyrics. Ed Sheeran won his first Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2023 for 'A Beautiful Game,' featured in Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso.
