Tower Records in Shibuya has established a massive dedicated installation to celebrate the arrival of 'Bully' within its iconic nine-story music hub. The display features dramatic vinyl triptychs and promotional messaging that describes Kanye West as a charismatic figure who is the artist closest to God.
"The artist closest to God! An overwhelming worldview that engulfs everything!" was written in big fonts. This high praise reflects the overwhelming worldview that the Japanese market has embraced during this significant release cycle.
Fans visiting the Shibuya location are greeted with immersive displays that emphasize the unique aesthetic of the new era. Billboards for the album have also taken over the famous Shibuya Crossing to ensure the presence of the rapper is felt throughout the city.
The inclusion of tracks like 'FATHER' has particularly resonated with listeners who missed the soulful production style of his early career. This retail experience serves as physical evidence of the enduring global influence of Kanye West. By positioning him as a near-religious figure in music, the Tokyo display reinforces the gravity of this specific career milestone.
Japan celebrates with physical shrines, while the rest of the world experienced the premiere through a digital spectacle.
A midnight premiere and the legacy of Bully
Kanye West premiered 'Bully' during a live YouTube session shortly after midnight on March 26, featuring guest appearances by Travis Scott and Nine Vicious. The event concluded with a nostalgic playback of the classic track 'Runaway' alongside newer selections like '4 Raws' by EsDeeKid.
Although the stream garnered millions of viewers, the completed album has not yet appeared on major streaming platforms as of Friday. The rapper has been teasing this project since September 2024, shortly after the release of his collaborative effort 'Vultures 2' with Ty Dolla $ign. He previously showcased snippets of songs such as 'Preacher Man' and 'Beauty and the Beast' during high-profile performances in Haikou, China.

In 2025, the artist shared a short film titled Bully V1 on the platform X, which featured his son, Saint West. While the rapper initially claimed he used artificial intelligence for a large portion of the music, he recently walked back those statements.
