As 2023 comes to a close, a string of monumental developments have started to take shape. Close on the heels of her concert movie making massive inroads into Hollywood, Taylor Swift just landed herself the coveted title of Times Magazine Person of the Year 2023. The dominating show presented by the singer not only marked a personal achievement but a turnaround moment for women all over. Coinciding with Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour movie opening up this week and charting its own mega course, this year also had one more show of woman power and that was Greta Gerwig with Barbie.

The acclaimed filmmaker jumped on the sailing ship and sang praises to the young singer.

On July 21, Barbie would go on to show the plight of women in a world full of patriarchy. However, unlike traditional drama, Mattel’s fourth-wall-breaking doll, the movie highlighted the pitfalls and shortcomings of the modern world in the most thoughtful manner possible. After cementing herself, as a poignant storyteller, speaking to Times, Greta Gerwig sang praises for Taylor Swift. In a remarkable show of respecting talent, the visionary director believed that the singer’s music “directly speaks into the souls of other people”.

Going on to amass over $1.4 billion by herself at the box office was no easy feat for Gerwig. Rather, the figures are the highest for a female director ever. Even after all that she has accomplished, the filmmaker acknowledging the ‘Wildest Dreams’ singer could be the sweetest possible way to relay how women should stand up for each other in the truest sense. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift also accomplished a remarkable feat by pitching herself as the only woman billionaire to reach the ranks based on her music alone.

At the age of 16, back in 2006, Taylor Swift went on to release her very first album titled on her own self. Soon after, her song, ‘Tim McGraw’ would start trending on the Hot 100 chart. In 2008, ‘Fearless’ would resonate her fighting spirit with its debut and land the singer the esteem of a popular growing artist. Finally, a Grammy win in 2010 would all but seal her prominence. For the young talent, there was no looking back from thereon.

Come March 2023, Glendale marked the first-ever show of the Eras Tour concert. A royal swooning of the singer would then follow as an estimated 72,000 fans gathered at every show across continents to catch a glimpse of her. Again in October, a concert movie of the same would beat to dust several A-list movies in presales before collecting over $250 million in revenue. An absolute force to be reckoned with the day may not be far away for a Taylor Swift biopic to air.
