Music has a remarkable way of returning us to the moments that shaped our lives, allowing a familiar melody to make the years briefly disappear. Tony Bennett demonstrated that enduring connection when he continued to recall songs such as 'Fly Me to the Moon' even as Alzheimer's affected his daily life. For Alan Jackson, whose songs have accompanied generations through heartbreak, celebration, and the quiet rituals of everyday life, that bond is about to receive one more moment in the spotlight.
And this time, fans will not have to travel to Nashville to be part of the occasion.
Alan Jackson’s farewell concert is coming to NBC in December
Alan Jackson: The Last Show will air on NBC on December 8, with the two-hour special scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/PT. The concert was filmed on June 27 at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, where Jackson performed before a sold-out crowd for his farewell show. Viewers who miss the television broadcast can stream the special on Peacock beginning December 9, bringing the evening to audiences beyond the stadium walls.

The event will feature appearances and performances from Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Lee Ann Womack, Adam Wright, Big City Brian Wright, and Carlisle Wright (via Deadline). George Strait will also join Jackson for a pair of duets.
The program will revisit more than three decades of country music, including enduring hits such as 'Chattahoochee', 'Remember When', 'Gone Country', 'Livin’ on Love', and 'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere'. A companion live album, 'The Last Show: One More for the Road – The Finale (Live from Nashville)', is scheduled for release on December 4.
Behind the familiar melodies and the star-studded tributes, however, lies a more personal story.
Alan Jackson’s health journey adds another layer to his final performance
Alan Jackson’s farewell carries significance beyond the closing of a celebrated touring career. In 2021, the singer revealed that he had been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), an inherited neurological condition affecting the peripheral nerves and causing difficulties with movement and balance. He had received his diagnosis roughly a decade earlier and explained that its increasingly visible effects were making performing more challenging. His decision to speak publicly about the condition also helped raise awareness of a disorder that had shaped his life away from the spotlight.

Jackson’s experience also brings to mind Céline Dion, who returned to live performances in Paris in September 2026 after years away from regular touring because of stiff-person syndrome. Her comeback has offered another example of the determination required to return to a demanding profession while navigating a serious neurological condition. Jackson’s farewell represents a different chapter in his remarkable career, but underscores the profound relationship between performers and the audiences who have stayed with them through difficult times.
