Tilly Norwood makes a stunning music video debut with a song titled 'Take the Lead,' ironically urging humans to see the humanity beyond the AI that created the pop star. The project, which shows Norwood singing an original song about creative expression and technological progress, has been released right before the Oscar discussions about AI in movies.
The digital entity exists as a creation made by Eline van der Velden, who serves as both producer and comedian through the AI studio Particle6 and its Xicoia division. Van der Velden's spokeswoman, Michelle Waldron, revealed that Tilly is a part of the bigger technological experiment for directors.
“It’s all kind of part of the bigger experimentation, but you will see Tilly acting in the not too distant future,” Waldron told The Wrap in an exclusive interview about Norwood's future Hollywood endeavors.
"We’re just a big playground for people to come and play with AI. And Tilly is one of those things you can play with," Van der Velden added in a conversation with the outlet.
The creators of Norwood are currently advancing development on the AI performer to enable her participation in upcoming film projects that Hollywood directors will create. However, the latest music video has become the talk of the town, raking up more than 142k views on YouTube.
Despite divided attention towards the AI pop star, Van der Velden's creation has still turned enough heads with the music video debut.
All about Tolly Norwood's music video debut
Tolly Norwood's latest music video, 'Take the Lead,' required 18 real people behind the scenes, including designers, technicians, and other team members. They had worked together to bring the project to fruition by developing new storytelling techniques instead of replacing artists.
The music video combines pop-star fantasy elements with unusual visual effects that depict the regular life of an AI pop star, which includes imagined talk-show scenes, particularly the iconic Graham Norton red couch, paparazzi shots, screaming fans, AI-image tests, and a truckload of flamingos. The video lets viewers float through whimsical dreamscapes while its lyrics define AI as a companion for artists instead of a competitor.

The virtual pop-star-cum-actress, reminiscent of virtual K-pop girl group idols, started her career in 2025 when her creators designed her to function as a complete entertainment solution, which included acting, modeling, singing through multiple artificial intelligence systems, and creative processes.
With Hollywood slowly opening up to AI, as in the case of Ben Affleck's AI startup InterPositive, recently acquired by Netflix, does Tolly Norwood have a shot at becoming the next big Hollywood star? While opera and ballet might have to fight a little harder to re-establish their relevance in the art industry, the rise of artificial intelligence might just pave the way for Norwood.
