Marvel’s Fan Favorite Project Is Returning for Season 2

Now, that same fan-favorite Marvel series is returning for a second season, promising even bigger adventures.

Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel, revealed on The Escape Pod that one of the projects that he is currently working on is the second season of Marvel Zombies. The man who has been deeply involved in MCU projects since Iron Man in 2008. emphasized that it is one of the projects he is most excited about, adding more reason to be excited about the second season of Marvel Zombies.
"It was crazy," Winderbaum said, describing the first animatic of Marvel Zombies Season 2. He explained that the episode delivers not only on zombies but also on an aspect of the MCU that has never been explored before. Meaning that the series will not only deliver the horror that Marvel fans loved so much but also expand on it in such a way that fans have not witnessed yet.
The news comes after fans could not get enough of the series, propelling it to the top of Disney+ charts in over 30 countries in 2025. In the US, it ruled the most-watched list for its first three days. Admirers delighted in the grotesque yet inventive superpower kills, the return of original actors lending their voices, and the audacious 'Elseworlds' approach, which delivered heartbreaks that the main continuity could never dare.
With Brad Winderbaum at the helm, Season 2 of Marvel Zombies looks dead-seriously exciting, alongside the news of Marvel Studios eyeing an early December shift for Avengers: Doomsday.
What Season 2 of Marvel Zombies has in store for fans
Season 2 of Marvel Zombies will pick up directly from the shocking cliffhanger of Season 1. Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, remains the primary antagonist as the 'Dead Queen,' enforcing a twisted Hex where zombies are sentient, and humans are trapped in a false paradise. The season is expected to expand the universe and raise the stakes dramatically.
Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart, is anticipated to lead a daring rescue mission to free Kamala Khan from the Hex. With elements of hacking, strategy, and courage, Riri will likely organize a resistance from the outside. Season 2 may also explore more of the House of M-style alternate reality, blending suspense with supernatural Marvel magic.

Returning characters such as Bucky Barnes, Star-Lord, Nebula, and possibly the Eternals are expected to join the struggle. The season could introduce unprecedented MCU elements, including new crossovers or cosmic-level threats, which would explain why Brad Winderbaum said that the season features something in the MCU that has never really happened before, while also promising surprises for fans.
