historical inaccuracies in the show, the most noticeable of which is the
appearance of King Louis XIV. He is shown as some man with a superb physique
when, in reality, he was obese and had terrible eating habits.

Robert B. Abrams, in one of his short stories, describes Louis’s eating habits
saying, “He would begin with four big bowls of different thick soups… After the
soups, the king would devour a whole bird—partridge, chicken, or duck—a large
salad, followed by mutton flavored with garlic, and two thick slices of ham.
These courses were usually followed by pastry, preserves, and candied fruit.”
