After finding out that the woman lying in their friend’s coffin might not actually be their friend, Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara decide to investigate what happened to Greta in How to Get to Heaven From Belfast. But there is more than one body and mystery to solve for the trio. Saoirse begins to piece together the past and present amid the chaos caused by an unexpected storm, and with some help from friendly cop Liam, she discovers that the body in the coffin belongs to a woman named Jodie.

Meanwhile, the trio also learns from a man named Andrew, who is actively searching for his father, that the man they helped Greta bury 20 years ago was actually a journalist named Charles Sampson (Andrew's father) rather than Greta's deceased ex-boyfriend. And soon they set out to seek the truth, while flashbacks revealed what really happened in 1997 (fire), 2003 (Sampson’s murder), and the present (Greta’s disappearance).

Did the trio reunite with Greta?

Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara’s whirlwind ride takes the three across Dublin and Portugal in How to Get to Heaven From Belfast, where they almost get killed and kidnapped by a mysterious woman called Booker. And they are eventually told by a Liam that Greta was actually adopted by Margot Heaney. And soon, they find out that Greta’s real mother, Nora O’Hara, is staying at a nursing home in Caille Neamh and that her daughter will visit her soon.

That is how the trio set out to confront Greta and find out what happened back in 2003. However, during one of their stops, Robyn and Dara end up leaving alone after their fight over Saoirse revealing the burial incident in her script for the show. And while in a heated conversation in the car, Robyn accidentally ran over someone who happened to be Greta. Horrified by the accident, the two leave the scene to find Saoirse.

However, Greta had already left when the three had come back to the scene. While Greta did survive the accident, both parties were soon headed to the same place, the nursing home. Meanwhile, flashbacks brilliantly placed amid the chase in the present timeline showed the truth behind Sampson’s deaths.

It showed Sampson meeting with Greta and Jodie, but after finding out that Sampson was secretly recording, a fight broke out between Greta and Sampson. And it escalated to Jodie stabbing him to save her friend. To save Jodie, Greta hides the truth from her friends and secretly buries Sampson’s body along with a priest, which is later revealed by Saoirse to Liam.

Later, in the nursing home, a bedridden O’Hara rejoices in telling Robyn and Dara that the fire was actually started by Greta when she was young, and that is why she was abandoned. However, the trio sensed the truth of Greta’s dominating and manipulative mother and sympathized with Greta’s troubled childhood. And soon they head to Heaven’s Veil, where they finally find Greta sitting down on the grass, chanting some words.

And this is when they find out the real truth about Greta’s identity, Jodie’s death, and the truth about what happened in 1997 in Heaven’s veil.

Who is Greta, and what is her secret?

Upon reuniting with their long-estranged friend, the trio asked her about the incident that started all the chaos. An exhausted Greta finally opens up about her and Jodie’s story and reveals their real names to be Aisling and Cara. She recalled that they were both young when they set a church on fire because they were angry and looked for god to appear in front of them.

And by the time they noticed there were children inside, it was too late, and 8 children had died in that incident. Later, Margot Heaney adopted Greta and helped her overcome her trauma, while Jodie was left behind to suffer. But as Jodie came back to her house, threatening to reveal the incident about Sampson to his son, Andrew, she got scared.

As for Jodie, she accidentally fell from the stairs to her death. However, to cover up the incident, Margot called an organisation called Metamorphosis and Booker to help stage Greta’s death and give her a new identity as Grainne. Their organisation was shown to run a shady business to help women get out of trouble. But this is where real trouble began.

After Great ran off, the organisation’s boss ordered Booker to kill off Greta and her family. But luckily, Booker realized that Rossa, who gave the order, was corrupt, and she secretly made a plan with her minions to wipe out the organisation. Much like the trio, Booker also finds out about Heaven’s Veil and confronts Greta.

But instead of killing her, she helped Greta and her family by giving them new passports, new identities, and a chance for them to escape. And finally, Greta is able to bid goodbye to her friends. Now, while Greta’s story came to an end, Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara could soon set out for a new adventure.

What does ending mean for Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara?

The ending shows Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara, played by a brilliant cast, finally on their way back home. However, they carried a bag back with them, which was left by Greta. It was not Greta’s, but she got it from a random man who dropped her off at Cork.

Meanwhile, the camera pans to show the random man stabbed to death. And while the three finally take a peek inside the bag, they see something mysterious that they promise not investigate. But could the trio who seemed to enjoy the previous case stop themselves from getting into another thrilling investigation again? That will depend on whether How to Get to Heaven From Belfast gets renewed for a second season.
