Eric Bauza, the Emmy-winning voice actor who brought Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and numerous other beloved animated characters to life, has died at 46. For generations of cartoon fans, these characters were more than ink and animation. Eric Bauza's family announced his sudden passing on October 25, 2026, through a statement shared on his official Instagram account. No further details were immediately provided. The news marks a heartbreaking loss for the animation industry, where Bauza had established himself as one of the leading voice performers of his generation.

Born on December 7, 1979, in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, Bauza developed an interest in animation early in life. His father and grandfather introduced him to classic cartoons, including Looney Tunes, helping nurture a passion that would eventually shape his career. Interestingly, he initially worked as a character designer before moving into voice acting, giving him an appreciation for animation from both sides of the microphone.

His journey into the Looney Tunes universe began with Marvin the Martian in 2011. Over time, he took on some of the franchise’s biggest names, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, and Elmer Fudd. Following in the footsteps of legendary voice performer Mel Blanc was no small task, but Bauza brought his own energy to these enduring characters.

And his vocal talents certainly were not confined to one wacky corner of the cartoon world.

Eric Bauza legacy that will keep the laughter going

Eric Bauza voiced Puss in Boots in The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Baby Fozzie in Muppet Babies. His credits also included Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gravity Falls, Rick and Morty, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. He even voiced Woody Woodpecker, adding another iconic animated character to his impressive résumé.

His achievements received industry recognition, too. Bauza won three Children's and Family Emmy Awards for his voice performances in Looney Tunes Cartoons, Bugs Bunny Builders, and Teen Titans Go! His work demonstrated the skill required to make familiar characters feel lively and relevant to new generations.

Voice acting often places performers behind the characters rather than in the spotlight, yet Bauza's work reached audiences across generations, proving that a memorable voice can leave an equally lasting impression. As seen in the story of Hollywood legend Eva Marie Saint, who voiced elderly Katara in The Legend of Korra and recently passed away at 102, animation can preserve an actor's presence long after their time in the recording booth. Bauza's characters will continue to bring laughter to viewers discovering these animated favorites for the first time, ensuring that his legacy lives on through the voices he gave the world.
