Walton Goggins is one of Hollywood's great chameleons, a wizard of transformation who can disappear into any role and instantly steal the spotlight. From the unhinged Boyd Crowder in Justified to the Ghoul in Fallout and Rick Hatchett in The White Lotus, Goggins has perfected the art of playing characters who could intimidate an entire room with one raised eyebrow.
However, his journey began without expensive trailers, glamorous premieres, or even speaking lines. Long before becoming television's favorite unpredictable troublemaker.
He was a teenager working as an extra, hoping that Hollywood might eventually learn his name.
Walton Goggins remembers his days as a teenage extra and parking valet
Speaking with Extra TV's Paul Costabile on October 22, Walton Goggins revisited his earliest days in show business, revealing that he started working as an extra at just 15.
“I was an extra,” he recalled, explaining that the experience taught him plenty about filmmaking.

The Alabama-born actor grew up in Georgia, where local productions provided his introduction to the entertainment industry. Early appearances in Murder in Mississippi and In the Heat of the Night gave him opportunities to learn the ropes before California came calling.
At 19, Goggins moved to Los Angeles with approximately $300. That was hardly Tony Stark money, and his superhero origin story involved finding employment immediately. He worked at a health club and eventually started a valet parking business. Between parking cars and auditioning, Goggins studied acting, practiced his accent, and pursued whatever opportunities appeared.
And the luxury resort that helped introduce Goggins to another generation of viewers is preparing to welcome an entirely new collection of suspicious vacationers.
The White Lotus Season 4 takes its luxury chaos to the French Riviera
Mike White is relocating his Emmy-winning satire to France, where expensive champagne, celebrity egos, and questionable decisions will share the same five-star address. Season 4 of The White Lotus unfolds during the Cannes Film Festival, following another group of wealthy guests and hotel employees over one increasingly uncomfortable week.

Filming began in April 2026, with locations including Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, and Paris. The fictional White Lotus properties will include the Hôtel Martinez and Airelles Château de la Messardière. The ensemble features Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani and several others.
For anyone worried that Hollywood lacks enough people behaving outrageously in expensive hotels, help is officially on the way. Goggins, however, has no confirmed involvement in Season 4. He told Extra that he knew several cast members, including Messina, while admitting he had no inside knowledge of the storyline. HBO has yet to announce a premiere date.
From parking cars to playing unforgettable characters, Goggins has traveled quite a distance. Would you like to see him return to The White Lotus someday? Let us know in the comments.
