Somewhere between pulling off the most jaw-dropping stunts in Hollywood and being the very definition of a superstar, Tom Cruise has long been a man who could take a seat reserved for royals without anyone daring to question it. Lately, though, the actor has been giving that status a whole new dimension.

His warming bond with the royal family is opening doors across Britain, ones that even the palace walls may never have seen swing open quite like this.

While Hollywood’s roots lie firmly in the United States, there is no doubt that the United Kingdom’s talent, scenery, culture, and often unwelcome adventures around the world have contributed greatly to it. However, this time around, it seems the United Kingdom is well on its way to borrowing Hollywood’s biggest star. According to sources, as reported exclusively by Radar Online, Tom Cruise may soon be making London Bridge his new crossing point.

Sources cited his close relationship with Prince William and Kate Middleton as one of the many reasons making the move possible.

As per a source's statement to Radar Online, the treatment he receives in the United Kingdom is a whole different genre than the one at home.

"He's treated like the American king of the city," the source told Radar Online.

Given his passion for trying new things, a move to London may not entirely be out of Tom Cruise's book, especially when his history with the royals is taken into account.

While the relationship between Tom Cruise, Prince William and Kate Middleton may be blooming now, its foundation was set in stone long ago.

Tom Cruise's long standing bond with the British royals

That Tom Cruise and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, come from the same industry is perhaps the weakest tie between the star and British royalty. Cruise has been around since the era when Princess Diana was cementing her title every day as the People's Princess. One account by People reports that Princess Diana, along with her sons, visited Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible at Pinewood Studios in 1995.

This was after the two had already crossed paths along with Cruise's then wife, Nicole Kidman, at the premiere of Far and Away in London. With a bond that began in the era of Princess Diana and has carried through to the current generation of royals, Tom Cruise’s ties to the British crown are clearly more than a passing friendship. That history is what makes the idea of a London move not a Mission: Impossible after all.
