Zendaya is the biggest supporter of her boyfriend, Tom Holland. The actress revealed that she became emotional and felt proud watching Holland on the set of The Odyssey, who is playing the role of Odysseus’ son, Telemachus, in the film. While Zendaya is also part of the cast, playing the role of Athena, the two did not share any scenes.

However, being part of the same film gave Zendaya a chance to watch Holland work on the project closely. And the actress had nothing but praise for him.

In a recent interview with Elle, Zendaya spoke about her multiple projects this year. After starring in Euphoria, the actress will next appear in The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both of which also feature Tom Holland. And she had much to say while speaking about watching the 29-year-old actor on the set.

“I could have cried, I was so proud,” Zendaya told Elle.

While the two will attend several events together for both films, the couple got to spend much more time together during the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Speaking about filming the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise, Zendaya called the experience a dream. She went on to share how she got to work every day with her best friend and the person she loves.

“We bring our dogs to work; it’s like a family affair. We grew up on those movies! It’s like coming home,” she said.

The two got engaged in 2024, and they were later rumored to have tied the knot this year after Law Roach appeared to hint at it. However, both Zendaya and Tom Holland have yet to comment on the rumors. Meanwhile, the couple has continued to make public appearances together, including at Holland’s second annual BERO Padel Classic earlier this year.

While Zendaya had all praise for Holland and his work in The Odyssey, she also had a lot to say about her own character in the film.

Zendaya talks about sharing qualities with her character, Athena

Zendaya, in her interview for Elle, reflected on how playing Athena in The Odyssey felt meaningful to her. The actress said she relates to Athena’s wisdom and calm nature. She added how people have always called her an “old soul” since childhood.

“In many ways, it feels very fitting that that would be the pairing for me,” she said.

The actress explained that growing up around adults, spending time with her parents and grandmother, and working professionally from a young age gave her a mature outlook on life. But despite being viewed as wise and experienced in Hollywood, Zendaya admitted still feeling like “a kid inside” as she approaches 30. How she brings the character, Athena to life will be seen when she appears on screen on July 17, 2026.
