If Hollywood handed out overtime pay, Zendaya would be collecting a rather impressive cheque by now. The actress has spent 2026 moving between The Drama, Euphoria Season 3, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Dune: Part Three still waiting in December. Zendaya has hinted at taking a well-earned break after this relentless run, but her newly confirmed A24 collaboration with Alex Garland suggests that science fiction might have other plans for her, although not in 2026.

Garland, the mind behind Ex Machina and Annihilation, knows how to make science fiction deliciously unsettling, so pairing his vision with Zendaya is an exciting prospect.

Zendaya is heading into another science-fiction adventure, and this time, Alex Garland is calling the shots. A24 has officially announced that the actress will star in an untitled sci-fi film written and directed by Garland, with production expected to begin in 2027. Plot details remain under wraps, leaving audiences with plenty of room to speculate about what the filmmaker has in store.

The collaboration marks another chapter in Garland and A24’s creative partnership, which has produced films such as Ex Machina, Men and Civil War. Known for exploring unsettling ideas through ambitious science-fiction storytelling, Garland has built a reputation for making audiences question what they are watching.

With Zendaya now joining his next project, (via Deadline) the possibilities are particularly intriguing. For Zendaya, the project also reunites her with A24 after her work on Euphoria and the 2026 dark comedy The Drama. Although the studio has revealed little about the upcoming film, the combination of a rising Hollywood powerhouse and a filmmaker known for cerebral, unpredictable stories is enough to spark curiosity.

Anne Hathaway Cheers On Fellow 2026 A-Listers Like Zendaya as She “Simply Evaporates” as Promised

With Bond girl rumours swirling and a new sci-fi film confirmed, Zendaya’s promised vacation is already looking suspiciously like another work schedule.

Zendaya has a rather simple idea of the perfect vacation: absolutely nothing, thank you very much. After a year packed with film releases, television commitments and promotional appearances, the actress has made it clear that she wants to step away from the spotlight, “mind my business” and “disappear for a little bit.” For someone constantly hopping between projects and press tours, doing nothing sounds like a luxury.

Speaking at The Odyssey premiere, Zendaya admitted that the whirlwind of travelling and switching between commitments had left her brain feeling “all over the place.” Although she remains grateful for the opportunities, the actress expressed wanting time to decompress without constantly moving from one place to another. However, with A24 confirming her next sci-fi film with Alex Garland, her quiet getaway may have some competition.
