Zendaya’s Disney Channel Reunion Surprise Steals Spotlight in 'Euphoria' Season 3

Zendaya may have closed the chapter on her Disney days, but a nostalgic reunion from her past was clearly much needed. The Drama actress stars as Rue in Euphoria, whose life has not been easy. In the latest season, an older Rue is seen becoming a drug mule, dealing with danger and risks, and even nearly getting shot. While there is little anyone can do for Rue except watch her face her fate, the show surprisingly brought a heartwarming reunion moment for Zendaya.
Nearly eight years after her last Disney project, the actress was reunited with a former co-star and a familiar face on Disney.

In episode two of Euphoria Season 3, Zendaya is reunited with Kadeem Hardison as the two shared the screen once again. The pair previously played father and daughter, Craig and K.C. Cooper, on the Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover. The show followed high schooler K.C., a tech-savvy karate black belt who gets recruited into the world of espionage after she discovers that her parents are secret spies.
In Euphoria, Zendaya and Hardison are no longer father and daughter, but their paths still cross unexpectedly. Hardison plays Big Eddy, who helps run operations at the Silver Slipper strip club. Following the episode’s release, he even took to social media to remind fans of their Disney-era connection.

Apart from this reunion, another nostalgic tribute was Hardison bringing back his signature flip-up glasses. This was a nod to his iconic role as Dwayne Wayne in 1980s/90s sitcom, A Different World. It is a small but memorable detail that managed to steal the spotlight even amid the show’s otherwise intense plot.
Now, the fascinating moments and shocking revelations in episodes 2 and 3 of Euphoria were much needed after its stunning debut, which drew jaw-dropping numbers.
Euphoria’s debut raked in impressive numbers
While Zendaya’s reunion came after nearly eight years, Euphoria itself returned following a long and painful four-year wait. And the much-awaited season 3 debut of the show drew 8.5 million viewers in the United States within just three days. That is nearly a 44 percent boost from the previous season.

And that boost in attention does not come as a surprise, considering the new season introduces a five-year time jump. While some cast members returned to reprise their roles, others exited the series. And that shift only increased the anticipation among fans. Now, while Euphoria continues to deliver its dose of drama and tension, the unexpected Disney reunion was a refreshing addition.
