Star-Lord may have parked his spaceship, but Chris Pratt is not ready to leave the MCU orbit just yet. Last seen as Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the intergalactic outlaw was expected by many fans to join Avengers: Doomsday, which is assembling a colossal superhero lineup. However, neither Star-Lord nor the Guardians made the announced roster, leaving fans wondering about Quill's future until Pratt stepped forward with a reassuring update by saying he is surely going to come back to the MCU one way or another.
Pratt has confirmed that Star-Lord still has a future in the MCU, meaning Marvel fans have not heard the last of their favorite galactic wisecracker.

Speaking to The Playlist, Chris Pratt offered a glimpse into the conversations behind Star-Lord’s eventual return, revealing that his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is being actively discussed. The actor credited Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and executive Lou D’Esposito for maintaining an ongoing dialogue about bringing Peter Quill back. According to Pratt, those discussions have also progressed beyond promises, with concrete steps being taken to make the reunion happen.
“So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere,” he said.
While Pratt remained tight-lipped about the timing, his comments offer a promising sign for fans waiting to see the cosmic hero return to action. The Russo Brothers have also been teasing major surprises in store for Avengers: Doomsday, keeping speculation about its sprawling superhero roster alive. Although Star-Lord has not been confirmed for the film, the directors’ hints leave room for unexpected appearances.

If Avengers: Doomsday does not provide the right landing spot, Avengers: Secret Wars could offer another opportunity for Peter Quill to rejoin the MCU’s biggest players. Following the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star-Lord returned to Earth to reconnect with his estranged grandfather, played by Gregg Henry. That quieter ending leaves plenty of room for another cosmic adventure, even if Marvel is keeping its plans under wraps, as Chris Pratt confirms his return to The Playlist.
As Avengers: Doomsday battles a promotional slump, the bigger question is whether Star-Lord’s fellow Guardians are just as keen to rejoin the MCU.
Are the other guardians of the galaxy going to return?
Of course, Star-Lord getting another dance with Marvel does not mean the entire Guardians crew is rushing to reclaim its spacesuits. Zoe Saldaña and Dave Bautista have both indicated that they are ready to leave Gamora and Drax behind after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, making a full-team reunion look less certain than a successful landing on Knowhere. That said, Hollywood farewells can be surprisingly temporary, and a change of heart is never entirely off the table.

Rocket Raccoon and Groot, however, have a distinct advantage: Marvel Studios can bring them back through voice performances and digital effects without reassembling the original live-action lineup. With Rocket positioned to lead the next generation of Guardians, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars could still make room for the team in a new form. For now, Pratt’s return is the clearest sign of life from the cosmic crew, but whether the other Guardians answer the call remains another Marvel-sized mystery.
