Ben Affleck has received plenty of advice throughout his Hollywood career, but some of it has been more blunt than others. While filming Michael Bay's 1998 blockbuster Armageddon, Affleck worked alongside Bruce Willis, who apparently had some thoughts about the younger actor's voice.

Years later, Affleck recalled the unexpected exchange during a recent appearance.

Josh Horowitz asked Ben Affleck on the Happy Sad Confused podcast whether playing Batman naturally brought out a lower voice. After jokingly demonstrating his Batman growl, Affleck recalled Willis's reaction to his voice being too high while they were making Armageddon. Affleck found it funny and told Willis how he could not change his voice, which led Willis to give up.

"Do what you like, man. You don't want to sound like that, man. I'm helping you out," Willis told Affleck.

Despite the blunt delivery, Affleck made it clear that he held no hard feelings. He described Willis as “the sweetest guy in the world” and said the actor genuinely meant to offer him a helpful tip. Affleck also revealed on Happy Sad Confused how Willis also advised Affleck against doing a Shakespeare film.

Released in 1998, Armageddon is Michael Bay’s sci-fi disaster film about a team of oil drillers sent into space to stop a massive asteroid from colliding with Earth. Ben Affleck stars alongside Bruce Willis, who leads the mission as Harry Stamper. The film became a major box-office hit and remains one of the most recognizable disaster blockbusters of the 1990s.

Willis was not the only person whose advice got Affleck talking about his career. During the same conversation, the actor also opened up about the one Marvel executive he would trust with a potential superhero comeback.

While Ben Affleck has largely moved on from superhero movies, he admitted that he would welcome a conversation with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about returning as Daredevil. During the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Affleck revealed that Feige had not approached him about reprising the role but added that he wishes he would.

That does not necessarily mean Affleck is eager to return to the genre. The actor explained that he feels he has already explored much of what superhero films have to offer him. However, Affleck made it clear that Feige stands apart from other industry executives when it comes to understanding audiences.

“Of all the producers in the world who have sort of pretended to kind of know what the audience wants, the only guy I would ever believe is Kevin Feige,” he said.

Affleck was also candid about his experience with superhero films, including the troubled production of Justice League, calling it all "gross". He also criticized the studio's handling of Zack Snyder, after his daughter's d****.

For now, Affleck seems content to be selective about superhero roles. Although he does not see an obvious reason to return, his respect for Feige leaves the door open to the right opportunity.
