'Wonder Man': Meet the Cast Bringing Marvel’s New Hero to Life on Disney+

The MCU kicked off the year with a refreshing start by the introduction of Wonder Man. Part of the Marvel Spotlight banner, the series leans into a more character-driven approach, which shows our superhero grappling with everyday struggles, much like any ordinary person. At heart, he is a struggling actor searching for his big break in Hollywood and hoping to finally launch his career.
However, Wonder Man also harbors hidden powers that are forbidden in the world in the series. While this character is not new to the fandom, the cast, including a former DC Comics supervillain, breathes new life into the series.

The character of Simon Williams in Wonder Man is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, whose résumé already includes Black Manta in Aquaman, along with turns in The Greatest Showman and HBO’s Watchmen. Superhero territory, then, is familiar ground rather than a leap of faith.
Ben Kingsley returns as the MCU’s in-world actor Trevor Slattery, a role that has long thrived on self-awareness. Early previews suggest that his scenes with Abdul-Mateen II lean into contrast rather than spectacle.
Alongside them, Demetrius Grosse appears as Eric Williams, Simon’s brother and adversary, adding a familial tension that gives Wonder Man its emotional stakes, not just its superpowered conflict. Ed Harris stars as Neal, Simon’s agent, while Arian Moayed portrays P. Cleary, a Department of Damage Control agent previously seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The show is scheduled to run for eight episodes.
While it is clearly a standalone project, questions remain about whether it is connected to the next highly anticipated MCU movie, Avengers: Doomsday.
Is Wonder Man connected to Avengers: Doomsday
So far, Marvel has not confirmed whether the series Wonder Man will connect to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. A popular social media scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, has suggested that the series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be self-contained, and that is confirmed since it is under the Marvel Spotlight banner. This means it may not tie directly into the larger Avengers storyline.
