Lionsgate and MRC's production of The Best Is Yet to Come has recently announced that Emmy and two-time Tony winner Mary-Louise Parker, two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster, Thomas Mann, and Michaela Watkins are joining the ensemble. The film, directed by Jon Turteltaub, is a re-teaming of Broderick and Ruck, who previously shared the screen in the iconic 1986 teen comedy, and promises a fresh take on their celebrated on-screen friendship.

 Following Deadline's revelation of the cast, the speculation regarding the storyline is at an all-time high. The story, written by Allan Loeb, follows two best friends who have a significant misunderstanding that leads each to believe the other is on the verge of death. This dramatic misconception prompts them to embark on a journey to live life to the fullest. Amy Baer is producing the film through her Gidden Media banner, with Dimitri Rassam also producing, based on the 2019 French film he previously produced. A specific release date and distribution platforms have not yet been determined.
