Everyone right now wants to know whether Spider-Man is going to be in either of the next Avengers movies. Tom Holland has been constantly bombarded with questions about Spider-Man’s future in the MCU, which loosely translates to whether we will be seeing him in Avengers: Doomsday or not. The actor notorious for spilling the tea kept his mouth shut on the matter for a change, and thus the mystery continues regarding his possible appearance in either of the movies.

However, since the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, some new evidence has come to light that might clear things up a bit.

Will Spider-Man swing by Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars?

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been a recurring character in the last two Avengers films, and ever since he was reported missing from the Avengers: Doomsday call sheet, rumors have only been piling up of a surprise cameo in the upcoming Avengers film or an important role in Secret Wars. The speculation further got wind from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credits, which strongly suggests that Spidey goes missing from Earth and ends up somewhere in outer space.

In the latest movie, Ned invents a Spidey Tracker that detects Spider-Man’s location across New York. However, the post-credit scene shows the tracker zooming out of the Big Apple, trying to find Spider-Man’s current location, only to end up locating him in outer space. The scene ends with the phrase, “Spider-Man will return.”

This one sentence is a consistent feature of the character teasers for Avengers: Doomsday, with the only difference being that this one did not include the name of the movie he will return in. This might be done to still keep things under wraps while teasing enough just to keep fans hooked. Anyway, the post-credit scene was a big clue to Spidey’s MCU future.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is Destin Daniel Cretton’s Love Letter to New York

However, there is still a slight chance that Tom Holland might not show up in Doomsday after all.

The post-credits might be hinting at Secret Wars

The post-credits scene may hint at a part in Avengers: Secret Wars, the sequel slated for next year, if Tom Holland does not reappear in Doomsday. The film might unite all of the heroes from the MCU multiverse in a single dimension known as Battleworld if it adheres to the comic book series of the same name. In the comics, Battleworld created a new universe by piecing together all the many planets and placing each hero and their variants.

The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men may ultimately be able to coexist in a single universe if the MCU did the same. And that will also explain how the Spidey Tracker started sensing Spider-Man in outer space. Anyhow, fans have to wait a few months to know whether the web-slinger is actually going to be a part of the Avengers movies or not.
