Will the Pond Open Again? Can Hallmark’s ‘The Way Home’ Come Back for a Fifth Season?

Time-travel as a concept has not been explored enough on the screens, and the potential is infinite, especially if properly utilized with creative twists and turns. The most recent example of a fresh take on the genre was the HBO series The Time Traveler’s Wife, starring Theo James and Rose Leslie. The show had a unique concept, but it was sadly axed after just one season. Fortunately, when Hallmark tried to do the same with The Way Home, the audience accepted it with open arms and appreciated it enough to get to four seasons.

But now there are clouds of uncertainty over the fate of the show beyond the fourth season, and the avid followers just want to know whether there is a possibility of the show coming back for a fifth season.

What is the status of The Way Home season 5?

Hallmark Channel will be pulling the plug on the popular time-traveling drama, The Way Home, after its upcoming fourth season, according to a November 2025 report by PEOPLE. The news was confirmed by a statement made by Samantha DiPippo, SVP of programming at Hallmark Media, in the same month.

“We’re grateful to our talented cast led by Andie, Chyler, Evan, and Sadie, as well as our amazing writers and crew who have worked so hard on this show," DiPippo said in her statement.

The Way Home's near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 92% makes it clear that its loyal fans will miss it. But a valid question arises about how the creative team will manage to provide a justifiable answer to everything in just one more season after the season 3 finale. It is a big undertaking to piece everything together in just one season.

This is where DiPippo comes to ease everyone's minds, promising that Season 4 will have the exciting surprises that fans anticipate and that viewers will get the answers they've been waiting for as the Landry family's adventure comes to a satisfying conclusion. How the promise holds up will only be revealed upon the release of the fourth season on April 19, 2026.

Even though a satisfying ending has been promised, fans of the show do not want it to end just yet, and there has been genuine online demand for a fifth season.

Can The Way Home be revived in any way?

The Way Home can be brought back in other ways. Since there are always revivals, it is possible that Hallmark will bring everyone back for a film. Naturally, though, that will all depend on how the series concludes.

“The door is never closed,” Alexandra Clarke, the executive producer of the show, told TV Insider.

“There will always be questions in our show, even near the end. So it’s always nice to leave people going, ‘Well, I wonder if …'” added Heather Conkie, another executive producer.

According to her, the show has a tendency to add a question mark even while answering questions. This leaves room for possibilities for the future. And since the finale will not be any different, there is a possibility for a future revival. Like any other show cancellation, this one will also leave a mark on its ardent fandom, but one silver lining is that the doors of possibilities are always open.
