While today’s generation sees social media following as the peak of fame, Michael Jackson existed far beyond anything the internet could ever measure. While hardly missing a single corner of the world in winning hearts once again, the 2026 biopic Michael is currently not available on Netflix and is instead expected to stream on Prime Video following its theatrical run. Released on April 24, 2026, the film has already stormed past the $500 million mark worldwide by its third weekend, officially becoming the highest-grossing opening ever for a music biopic, surpassing even Bohemian Rhapsody. Due to Lionsgate’s distribution deal, Michael is first expected to arrive on Starz around July or August 2026 before eventually making its way to Prime Video later in the year.
But beyond the roaring box office numbers, it is Jaafar Jackson’s almost unreal transformation into Michael Jackson that has truly left audiences stunned, with many admitting that his very first turn toward the stage felt like the King of Pop himself had returned for one final performance. Critics have since described his portrayal as “uncanny” and even “Oscar-worthy,” praising the way he captures his uncle’s voice, movements, and magnetic stage presence with startling precision. Alongside Jaafar Jackson and young actor Juliano Krue Valdi as Michael, the cast also includes Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, and Miles Teller as John Branca.
While Netflix may not be the streaming home for Michael this time, the platform still continues to hold several iconic adaptations and documentaries of Jackson.
