The creepy yellow hallways of Backrooms continue to haunt audiences while raking in millions since its debut in theaters. The movie has become one of the biggest horror hits of 2026, turning a viral internet concept into a box office phenomenon. But as its theatrical run is likely nearing its end, attention is now shifting to where viewers will be able to stream the eerie horror from home.

Unsurprisingly, many are wondering whether the film will land on Netflix, which has been the home to several popular horror titles.

Backrooms, directed by 21-year-old filmmaker Kane Parsons, is expected to arrive on streaming after completing its theatrical run. However, it is unlikely to land on Netflix. Since the film was acquired by A24, it is more likely to stream on HBO Max or Paramount+, which have frequently served as streaming homes for the studio's releases.

As of now, however, its streaming destination has not been officially confirmed. Until the 2026 horror hit arrives on streaming, fans can still experience the world of Backrooms from home. The viral YouTube series created by Kane Parsons that inspired the film is available to watch on YouTube. Most of the videos range from 5-20 to 45 minutes in length.

While the series differs from the movie, it is well worth watching to get a deeper look at the unsettling universe that started it all. Now, the film's massive success has also earned it a sequel. And Kane Parsons, who has hinted that he has more stories to tell, will return to direct the follow-up. For now, Backrooms continues its successful run in theaters.

Interestingly, the Backrooms fans will have another reason to head back to the cinema, as a new version of the film has arrived in theaters.

What is the new version of Backrooms?

Backrooms is not leaving theaters anytime soon. While the current version continues to perform well at the box office, director Kane Parsons has introduced a new cut of the film. Titled Backrooms: Everything Must Go, the expanded version was released in theaters on July 3, 2026. It has a theatrically exclusive post-credit scene and 15 minutes of additional footage, bringing the runtime to 2 hours and 6 minutes.

As per the description, it appears to be a director's cut, giving fans even more to sink their teeth into. The film has already earned more than $300 million against its reported $10 million budget. The release of this new version could help extend its impressive box office run even further, perhaps even nudge the yet-to-watch audience to flock to theatres before the movie hits streamers.
