Spider-Man: Brand New Day will not swing into IMAX theaters, but that does not mean Marvel fans have to settle for a lesser experience. In a rare twist for an MCU blockbuster, the wall-crawler has found himself edged out of the industry's most coveted premium format. For years, Spider-Man films have thrived on spectacle. From the dizzying Mysterio illusions in Far From Home to the emotional multiversal spectacle of No Way Home, every entry has been designed to reward audiences who choose premium formats.
That leaves an equally fascinating race between the remaining premium formats, each offering a completely different way to experience Marvel's next web-slinging adventure.

The absence of IMAX has nothing to do with Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures scaling back the release. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey secured an exclusive IMAX theatrical run, leaving Spider-Man: Brand New Day without access to the format. It is one of the few occasions where an MCU tentpole has been completely locked out of IMAX because another filmmaker reserved the premium exhibition window months in advance.

Instead of treating that as a setback, Marvel and Sony adapted. Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the first feature designed for a native 270-degree ScreenX presentation, using specialized camera arrays that expand the action beyond the front screen and onto the auditorium's side walls. For audiences who enjoy feeling surrounded by the action, ScreenX will likely offer the closest experience to Spider-Man's signature rooftop swings. Those looking for pristine audiovisual fidelity may find Dolby Cinema to be the stronger choice, thanks to Dolby Atmos sound and its high-contrast presentation on Premium Large Format screens.
Meanwhile, 4DX caters to viewers who enjoy motion seating, wind effects, and synchronized environmental cues that transform every web swing and aerial battle into a physical experience.
Another recent revelation suggests that choosing the right screen may only be part of the surprise Marvel has in store.
Tom Holland's title reveal changes the conversation
Many fans assumed Spider-Man: Brand New Day simply described Peter Parker's lonely existence after the memory-erasing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. That interpretation aligned neatly with the comic storyline that inspired the title, making it seem like an obvious thematic continuation. However, while appearing in the Disney+ documentary Generations: The Evolution of Spider-Man, Tom Holland offered a far more intriguing explanation.
Rather than referring to Peter's fresh start after No Way Home, Holland revealed that the "brand new day" is connected to the movie's final frame.

The brief comment instantly reshaped fan theories. Instead of signaling where Peter begins, the title may hint at where his journey ends. Whether that means Doctor Strange's spell is reversed, Peter embraces an entirely new life, or Marvel unveils another universe-altering twist remains unknown. For a franchise that has repeatedly redefined Spider-Man's future with its closing moments, Holland's tease feels less like marketing and more like a carefully placed breadcrumb.
