When it comes to dream crossovers in the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe, few pairings hold as much comic-book history and fan devotion as the legendary team-up between the Man Without Fear and your friendly neighborhood web-slinger. Despite their iconic comic-book history and past MCU teases, bringing New York's finest street-level protectors together on the small screen remains easier said than done.

While chatting about the future of his gritty Disney+ series, star Charlie Cox recently named Spider-Man as the one marquee hero he would love to see cross paths with Matt Murdock - even if he admits the massive crossover is practically a pipe dream.

Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox recently revealed exactly which iconic hero sits at the top of his personal wish list for the show's final season, even if he is well aware that licensing red tape makes it a massive long shot. When asked about a dream Daredevil collaboration, the actor admitted he would love to see Matt Murdock cross paths with Peter Parker, though he tempered fan expectations with a heavy dose of realism (via @_Lost_something).

“Probably Spider-Man. It’ll never happen, but it would be cool,” Cox shared.

While Tom Holland's wall-crawler and Cox's crimson-clad lawyer previously crossed paths in a brief, crowd-pleasing cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a sustained television crossover has long been hindered by complex studio rights and sharing arrangements between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.

The confession provided by @_Lost_something once again reignites the searing fan desire to see these two red suits in action together, just like we got in Spider-Man: Brand New Day between the web-slinger and Punisher. The camaraderie and the banter between them were a treat to watch on the screen for die-hard comic fans. A similar collaboration between the Red Devil and the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler would be such a delight.

Charlie Cox Reportedly Locked In for Future MCU Projects Beyond ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3

If Marvel decides to go ahead with this pairing, there is already much to draw upon from the comics.

In the source material, Daredevil and Spider-Man share one of the most enduring, complex, and entertaining dynamic friendships in Marvel history. Balancing Murdock's stern, Catholic-guilt-driven seriousness with Parker's trademark wisecracks has always provided a fantastic comedic and dramatic contrast. Furthermore, both heroes operate in the same gritty, boots-on-the-ground side of New York City, making a team-up feel like a natural fit for the tone of Born Again.

Even if corporate logistics mean a full-scale crossover on the streaming series is unlikely any time soon, Charlie Cox's enthusiasm proves that the actors themselves are just as eager to see these comic-book legends reunite on screen as the fans are. Until that day comes, the Man Without Fear will just have to keep cleaning up Hell's Kitchen solo.
