The SAG and WGA strike is set to halt the entertainment industry. Multi-million
dollar projects and shows face an unprecedented amount of pause if the
committees and production companies fail to reach reasonable conclusions. The
effects of this are felt on Netflix as well as other platforms that are left
with the task of dealing with the situation. The writer’s strike had already
shown its effects on its projects, but the actors’ strike has added to the
pressure.

For the first time in 60 years, these committees are coming together, with the
support of its 11,500 and 160,000 members. They are likely not to give up until
demands are met, but one show has managed to be an exception, and that is The
Chosen series.


HOW THE CHOSEN WILL BE UNAFFECTED BY THE WGA-SAG STRIKE

over their issues, one Netflix show has been shielded from the damage. The
Chosen is a faith-based series that will continue its shoot and wrap up its
production soon. The reason is that it follows the SAG-AFTRA’s National Code of
Fair Practice, meaning that the actors enjoy its benefits. The show’s official
account took to Twitter to share the news, clarifying the reasons for their
exception.

Makers have complied with the demands of the committee, and will, in fact, wrap
up their work in two weeks. As per another comment added by them, the show is
funded independently, and on donations. Show creator Dallas Jenkins also
revealed of submitting the paperwork required to acquire this exemption. The
committee has allowed such projects and other soap operas to continue if
guidelines are met. For instance, shows like House of Dragons, General Hospital,
Days of Our Lives, etc., will also not be affected by the strike.

OTT platform, and has been uber-successful. This show, with a rating of 9.3 from
IMDb, casts Jonathan Roumie, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, etc., in
the lead.



After releasing its first season in 2017, it came out with two more. The fourth
one is announced to release sometime in 2024, the shooting for which began in
March 2023. Meanwhile, other series with the same dates may face delay if the
strike continues.
