Muhammad Ali spent a lifetime proving that a legend could be both fighter and showman, and Hollywood has long held a ringside seat to the performance. His story has inspired countless artists, and the screen has returned to it more than once, most notably in Will Smith’s 2001 biopic Ali.

Now Prime Video is stepping into the ring with its own contender. The Greatest is the streamer’s take on the boxing icon’s life, and with a cast stacked with familiar faces, the question is who steps into the shoes of the people who shaped him.

Jalalen Best: Jaalen Best as Muhammad Ali. Newcomer Jaalen Best leads the series as Cassius Clay, the young fighter who would become Muhammad Ali. Still early in his career, Best has been working hard to fill the legend’s shoes, and the role marks his biggest step yet.

Amin Joseph: Amin Joseph plays Sonny Liston, the heavyweight champion who stands across the ring from Ali. Joseph is known for his work on Snowfall.

Dave Davis: Davis as Marvin Geller. Dave Davis, whose credits include Emancipation, steps into the role of Marvin Geller.

Brandon McKnight: Brandon McKnight takes on the role of Floyd Patterson, the former heavyweight champion.

Aimé Donna Kelly: Donna Kelly as Alberta Jones. Jones was an African-American attorney and civil rights icon.

‘Michael’ to Compete With ‘The Odyssey’ as Golden Globes Reject Jaafar Jackson’s Musical/Comedy Bid

While the cast is filled with promising talent, the plot of the upcoming series remains just as exciting.

In the recent proven blockbuster tradition of remembering legends in cinematic style, The Greatest is an eight-episode limited series about Muhammad Ali, and it is the first authorized scripted series about the boxer’s life. Ali’s widow, Lonnie Ali, is an executive producer alongside Michael B. Jordan, whose company, Outlier Society, is also behind the project.

Rather than leaning only on the famous victories, the story focuses on what happened outside the spotlight, presenting Ali as a husband, father, brother, and son. From Jaalen Best’s Ali to Amin Joseph’s Liston, the cast has its work cut out for it, and all eight episodes land on November 4, 2026 to show who answers the bell.
