House Targaryen has never believed in making a quiet entrance. Across Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, the dragonlords have arrived as conquerors, visionaries, usurpers, and outright agents of chaos. From Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen's bloody claim to the Iron Throne and Prince Daemon Targaryen's rogue exploits to Prince Aemond Targaryen's terrifying bond with Vhagar and Daenerys Targaryen's rebirth of dragons centuries later, every silver-haired royal has left Westeros a little more scorched.

Now Prince Daeron Targaryen, King Viserys I Targaryen's youngest son, is finally making his on-screen debut, ensuring the long-forgotten prince is forgotten no longer, at least by House of the Dragon. No wonder fans want to know who will be bringing the Targaryen to life.

British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth plays Prince Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon Season 3, with the casting first officially confirmed through Sky Italia's updated cast listing. After seasons of anticipation, the youngest son of King Viserys I Targaryen is finally stepping onto the battlefield. The long-absent prince is ready to trade off-screen mentions for dragons and destiny.

Daeron is the youngest son of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower, but unlike his siblings, he has spent much of the story away in Oldtown. That absence turned him into one of the franchise's biggest mysteries. Season 3 finally changes that by bringing the fan-favorite prince directly into the Dance of the Dragons.

His arrival has been surrounded by enough secrecy to make a spymaster jealous. Early set leaks pointed toward Charlie Gordon in Targaryen attire, but those reports were later clarified as part of a deliberate decoy. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth's casting has since also been reflected on the A Wiki of Westeros character pages, further cementing his long-awaited debut.

Daeron is not arriving empty-handed. The young prince enters the war as the rider of Tessarion, the brilliant blue dragon known as the Blue Queen. With another dragonrider joining the Greens, the Targaryen civil war gains fresh fire, fresh strategy, and one more royal capable of rewriting the balance of power at a time when even the theme song is adapting to shifting forces.

The fandom has warmly embraced the announcement, with many arguing Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is perfectly positioned to finally do justice to the forgotten prince.

Why Benjamin Evan Ainsworth could turn out to be a fan-favorite?

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth already looks like he belongs at the Red Keep. His facial features closely resemble Olivia Cooke's Queen Alicent Hightower and Tom Glynn-Carney's King Aegon II, making him a convincing addition to the family before the silver wig even enters the picture. At 17 during filming, he also closely matches Prince Daeron Targaryen's youthful age in George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood.

His résumé also mirrors Daeron's personality surprisingly well. In The Haunting of Bly Manor, Ainsworth balanced innocence with unsettling emotional depth as Miles Wingrave, while Pinocchio showcased his warmth and sincerity. Daeron similarly shifts from courteous youngest prince to fearless dragonrider commanding Tessarion, making Ainsworth well equipped to ensure Westeros' forgotten prince becomes one of Season 3's most memorable arrivals.
