Inside Sarah Jessica Parker's marriage: A look at their life together

Sarah Jessica Parker first met Matthew Broderick in 1991 via her siblings' theatre company, at which he was directing a play. After their romantic relationship lasting nearly five years, the duo tied the knot in May 1997, in a low-key ceremony that even the guests considered a party until the bride and groom revealed it was a wedding.

Only a year before announcing they were married, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick made their Broadway debut together in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The two became parents to three children, with their son James Wilkie born in 2002, and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha born via surrogate in 2009.

No relationship is always smooth sailing. In a 2011 interview with The Telegraph, Parker reminisced about the good and bad days of spending two decades with Broderick in a marriage that continued to run its course.

“If you're in it for the long haul, and you want meaningful relationships, you are going to go through lots of different periods," Parker told the outlet.

Equally successful in their respective careers in both film and theatre, Broderick's company was synonymous with that of Parker’s. Their commitment to each other, in turn, remains one of the keys to a long-lasting relationship through Hollywood's trials and fame that made the S-- and the City star one of the most ever-lasting pop cultural icons of all time.
