Mystique is one of the most famous mutants in Marvel Comics, with her blue skin color, ability to change form, and morally dubious traits. The character first appeared in Fox’s original X-Men trilogy before a younger version was introduced in the prequel films. As Marvel’s multiverse saga gains momentum, Mystique will be making a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, reintroducing one of the franchise’s most iconic mutants to the big screen after nearly 20 years.
Behind the iconic mutant is a career that spans modeling, film, and television.

Rebecca Romijn will reprise Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday. She began her career as a fashion model in the early 1990s before successfully transitioning into acting. Romijn's breakout role was in 2000's X-Men, starring as Mystique, reprising the role of the shape-shifting mutant in X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).
Her performance became one of the defining portrayals of the original X-Men film series, with the role requiring hours of blue body makeup and prosthetics for every shoot. She later had an uncredited cameo in X-Men: First Class (2011), before Jennifer Lawrence took over the younger Mystique in the prequel films.
