The high-stakes conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy is almost here. VisionQuest, about to premiere on Disney+ on October 14, recently released its second, final official trailer. Unlike the D23 teaser released in August, the new footage gives fans their first proper glimpse of the antagonist. Right in the middle of one of the high-octane action sequences, the trailer introduces a massive bounty, Paladin.

And just like that, the masked mercenary has once again become something of a mystery for fans, just as he has been throughout his comic book history.

Paladin first appeared in Daredevil #150 in 1978, but there is surprisingly little we know about the man behind the mask. His real name, his past, and even the source of his advanced technology have remained a mystery over the years. He sometimes goes by Paul Denning, although that name is also believed to be an alias. Paladin does not even fit into the hero or villain mold. He is driven by money and will take on any job for the right price. But then he also follows a strict professional code that dictates how far he is willing to go.

Paladin's long comic book history is filled with encounters with Marvel’s biggest street-level players. He has been a recurring member of Silver Sable’s Wild Pack, worked alongside the Heroes for Hire, and eventually became part of Norman Osborn’s black-ops Thunderbolts team. Now, all eyes are on VisionQuest to see where this morally flexible mercenary fits into the story.

In the upcoming VisionQuest, Paladin becomes a major obstacle for White Vision.

Paladin sets out to track Vision down

Following the events of WandaVision, White Vision goes into hiding, hoping to figure out who he really is. His quiet life does not last long, though. An unknown client puts a massive bounty on his head to get their hands on his advanced synthezoid technology. According to showrunner Terry Matalas, Paladin sets out to track Vision down, but the mission takes an unexpected detour.

Instead of finding his intended target, he ends up crossing paths with Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed. His encounter with the mysterious teenager ultimately becomes the link that brings him face-to-face with Vision.
