Marvel is all set to reboot the X-Men, bringing in new faces who could become the future of the franchise. This has once again sparked speculation among longtime fans about one of the most crucial mutants, Storm, and who could bring her regal nature to the screen. Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp have previously played the live-action version of the character in Marvel movies.
Now, the studio has officially passed the reins to young actress Maya Boyd. And there is much to know about the actress and her career so far before she plays Storm in the movie.

Maya Boyd is an American actress who began her career in theater. She has appeared in several stage productions while balancing her college studies. She attended the University of Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre.

While working in theater, Boyd got the opportunity to make her Broadway debut in Merrily We Roll Along. The musical is based on George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s 1934 play of the same name. The actress also appeared in the Broadway production of & Juliet, where she played Juliet Capulet. Most recently, Boyd was part of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.
Now, she is set to land her biggest Hollywood break yet, as Marvel has cast her as Storm.
Maya Boyd is the new Storm in the franchise
During the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Marvel and Kevin Feige revealed the new cast members joining the upcoming X-Men film. And the 23-year-old Maya Boyd has been announced to play Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm, in the movie, which is expected to be released in 2028. Several other actors who will portray iconic mutants were also announced as part of the cast.

Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, Kit Connor will portray Cyclops, and Samara Weaving will take on the role of Emma Frost. Inde Navarrette had previously revealed that she had spoken with Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier but did not confirm whether she had landed a role. It is finally revealed that the actress will now play Rogue.
Christopher Abbott will play Professor X, while Adam Driver will portray the villainous Mr. Sinister. It is an incredibly talented cast, and while many of the actors are still young, they already have immense experience and plenty of time to develop their characters. What remains to be seen is how Boyd transforms into Storm and brings the iconic mutant to life in the upcoming movie.
