Kyle Damon was born to Kent Damon and Nancy Carlsson-Paige in the late 1960s, while his younger brother Matt Damon was born in 1970. Following their parents' separation in 1972, the two brothers moved with their mother to what Kyle described as a "hippie commune" in a 2020 interview with Art Works Magazine. He recalled that although they did not have much growing up, the brothers were happy with their lives.
“We didn’t grow up with anything, but we didn’t know any better. We were happy,” he said.
While living with his family, Kyle Damon fell in love with mixed-media art. He initially studied printmaking in University of Massachusetts at Amherst before switching to mixed media due to financial constraints, and that went on to become his career. As reported back in 2020, he works from a studio attached to his Cambridge home.
A few years later, he met the love of his life. After getting into a conversation about his painting, the two eventually began dating and got married.

Kyle Damon met his wife, Lori, after she visited an art gallery where he held an exhibition and asked about buying one of his paintings. Although the artwork had already been sold, he invited her to visit his studio in hopes of seeing her once again. The two soon began dating, and two years later, Kyle proposed to Lori at an art gallery, and the couple eventually got married.
“It was the only one I had ever sold,” Kyle told Art Works. “So I got to say, ‘Sorry that one is sold, but I have others if you want to come by the studio,’ hoping that would impress her."
Their first son is Jackson, and later they welcomed another son. Speaking of fatherhood, Damon shared that it completely changed his priorities and shifted his focus from work to raising his children. The family is also quite close to Matt Damon and often visits him.
The bond between Kyle Damon and Matt Damon
Even amid tough schedules for both, the two families often meet. Kyle Damon and his family once visited Matt Damon in South Africa when the actor was filming Invictus. During that trip in 2009, Kyle even persuaded his brother to compete with him in the 70-mile Cape Town Cycle Tour.
However, both struggled due to the harsh weather conditions. Speaking to Artworks, Kyle Damon even added how his brother, who rarely gets on a bike, struggled more during the race. However, he fondly remembered the memory of them crossing the finish line together.
“It was genuinely hard. It was emotional when we finished,” Kyle said. “It was epic.”
This is much like their early life. Both worked hard and overcame hurdles in their personal and professional lives to be where they are. When speaking of their past, one cannot forget how Matt Damon's brother inspired one of the most memorable scenes in Good Will Hunting.
Matt Damon shared the story during his visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He recalled that his brother, Kyle Damon, jokingly wrote a complex-looking fake equation on a hallway blackboard when he visited a physicist friend at the school. The incident inspired the film's famous scene in which Will anonymously solves a difficult math problem on an MIT blackboard.
"And it was so cool and completely insane that no one erased it for months. This is a true story,” Damon said, as reported by Vanity Fair.

Both were each other's support when their father, Kent Damon, passed away in 2017. During an interview in 2023, the actor recalled the final moment with their father. He shared that even at such an emotional moment, their father made a final joke referencing their favorite comedy, the 1986 comedy Three Amigos. He remembered how it brought both brothers to tears and laughter at the same time.
Later, the two brothers kept their father's wish and spread his Ashes at Boston’s Fenway Park. Their father was a die-hard Red Sox fan. Though Kyle Damon stays away from Hollywood, his bond with Matt Damon has been constant.
