Who Is Joffrey in ‘House of the Dragon’?

House of the Dragon season 3 is slowly inching toward its final game, with the series entering its most crucial chapter. But after nearly a two-year gap between Seasons 2 and 3, it might not be easy to keep track of the many Targaryens, Velaryons, and more characters. Joffrey is one such character who was recently mentioned in the series, which may confuse many about his origins
So, here is a closer look at who Joffrey is, how he is related to the other characters of the show.
Joffrey’s origins

Joffrey is the third son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and her first husband, Ser Laenor Velaryon. However, as the series has hinted, he is likely the biological son of Ser Harwin Strong. Young Joffrey is also a dragonrider, and his dragon is Tyraxes.
He is the only surviving son of Rhaenyra and her first husband. And actor Oscar Eskinazi portrays Joffrey in the series. However, in the show, Joffrey is sent away to keep him safe from the ongoing conflict after his two older brothers, Jacaerys and Lucerys, are killed during the w**.
Joffrey was also mentioned in Episode 3 of Season 3. Lord Corlys, who wants his illegitimate sons, Alyn and Addam, to be given the Velaryon name, urged Rhaenyra to put in a word for him. However, she refused to let Addam take the Velaryon name because legitimizing Corlys' illegitimate sons as Velaryons would not look good for son Joffrey, Laenor Velaryon's legally recognized heir. Upset by her decision, Corlys publicly accused Rhaenyra's first three sons, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey, of being b*******.
This came after Rhaenyra won the Iron Throne, a win that has only brought more tension and challenges.
Princess Rhaenyra’s crown came tough hurdles
Princess Rhaenyra's win in claiming the Iron Throne came at the cost of massive battles and bloodshed. But winning the throne was only the beginning, as even greater challenges await her now that she has taken the crown. Upon ascending the throne, Rhaenyra discovered an empty treasury, starving smallfolk, and even a rat infestation in the Red Keep.

At the same time, she must continue to face her enemies while dealing with Lord Corlys' latest request. As her reign begins, it becomes clear that there are many more obstacles ahead. And Rhaenyra must either overcome them or risk becoming the very kind of ruler she never wanted to be.
