Who Is Jackal? Everything You Need to Know About the Rumored 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Villain

This July, Spider-Man will make a comeback after nearly losing everything in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spider-Man: Brand New Day from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures will see a different Peter Parker. He has distanced himself from everyone he ever knew and is trying to navigate his way through this new, forlorn life while fighting bad guys.

Speaking of bad guys, there has been a rumor that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature Jackal, one of the most iconic Spider-Man villains, who has been a long-standing nemesis of our friendly neighborhood hero.

Although Marvel has not yet formally acknowledged it, there have been rumors and predictions that The Jackal, aka Dr. Miles Warren, will be one of the antagonists in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, after seeing the words "Green Jackal" on a mini-keg in the new trailer, fans are still speculating that he might appear in Brand New Day, which could then start an MCU clone saga, as the Jackal is responsible for creating Scarlet Spiders Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker.

In 1965, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created Miles Warren who was a professor at Empire State University.  He adopted The Jackal persona in the mid-1970s (specifically The Amazing Spider-Man #129 in 1974, written by Gerry Conway and drawn by Ross Andru).   The Jackal is noteworthy for being among the first in the Marvel Universe to grasp cloning technology, even though he is not as well-liked or well-known among fans as the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus.

There have also been rumors that the upcoming Spider-Man film will begin with a fast-paced montage in which Spidey fights a number of smaller antagonists, including Tarantula and Boomerang. There might be a possibility that Jackal may be one of the features in the montage. This is still an assumption, and nothing has been confirmed as of now.

With all these villains in the mix, it will be intriguing to see how Peter Parker’s personal life is affected this time.

The plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day

As suggested by the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the story follows the events of No Way Home that took place four years ago. Peter is now an adult living completely alone after choosing to cut himself off from the memories and lives of the people he cares about. With such an emotional weight on his shoulders, he fights crime in a New York that no longer knows his name. He has dedicated himself fully to defending his city as a full-time protector.

However, as the demands on him increase, the pressure causes a startling physical evolution that puts his life in jeopardy, even as an odd new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most potent threats he has ever encountered. The plot, as always, gives so many reasons to be personally invested in Peter’s journey. All that now remains is the movie’s release on July 31, 2026.
