Lanterns Episode 6 quietly introduced one of the most important women in Green Lantern mythology. During Hal Jordan's sparsely attended funeral, Carol Ferris arrives with a history that immediately catches John Stewart's attention. Played by Amie MacKenzie, Carol is an old romantic connection of Hal's.

In the comics, however, she occupies a much larger place in his life, moving between business, romance and cosmic conflict.

As one of his most enduring allies and enemies.

Carol Ferris has been connected to Hal Jordan since his earliest adventures. DC's history places their first meeting around Ferris Air, the aviation business owned by Carol's father, Carl Ferris. Hal eventually becomes a test pilot for the company, while Carol grows into a skilled pilot and the person running the family enterprise. Their professional relationship develops alongside a complicated romance, especially because Carol initially does not know that Hal is secretly Green Lantern.

That dynamic has remained a major part of Green Lantern comics for decades. DC has repeatedly described Carol as one of Hal's closest romantic connections, with their relationship moving through periods of affection, separation and conflict. Stories have also placed her in the unusual position of knowing Hal both as the man behind the cockpit and as the superhero behind the mask.

Carol is also far more than a supporting figure in the Ferris family business. Depending on the continuity, she becomes the head of Ferris Aircraft and inherits significant responsibility for the company. Ferris Industries has also appeared in DC stories as part of the wider corporate legacy associated with the Ferris family.

Her transformation into a cosmic figure would take that relationship in an entirely different direction.

The most famous evolution in Carol Ferris' story comes when she becomes Star Sapphire. The character began as an enemy connected directly to Hal, with the Star Sapphire identity turning their romantic history into a source of conflict. Over time, DC developed Carol beyond that villainous phase, placing her within the Star Sapphire Corps and giving her a more heroic role. 

Modern comics have continued that evolution, with Carol functioning as a powerful ally and an important figure within the Star Sapphire mythology. DC has also published stories featuring Hal and Carol fighting together while retaining the complicated history that has defined them for generations.

For the DCU, however, there is currently no confirmed announcement that Amie MacKenzie's Carol will become Star Sapphire. Her appearance in Lanterns establishes her presence and history with Hal, yet the series has not revealed a superpowered identity for her. Current coverage has identified Star Sapphire as a possible direction because of the character's comic history, but that remains speculation until DC Studios confirms it.
