The rapper and singer, Daveed Diggs, plays Oh-Father in The Boys season 5, who organized Capes for Christ in the original comics. In the show, he appears as a supe with a deep inclination to religion and allied to the cause of Homelander. Although he is a character from the original source material, he is set up in a different way in the show.

The first episode, titled Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite, introduces the audience to Diggs’ Oh-Father, who is married to Ashley Barrette. Ashley, who is now the Vice President of the USA, appeared with Oh-Father in an interview in the episode hosted by Firecracker. She talked about how they both met and their shared love for religion that brought them closer.

Even though their marriage is just a facade, as revealed later, it clearly indicates which side Diggs’ character is on. As far as his powers are concerned, the second episode does provide a glimpse, which is not enough to conclude anything. In the second episode, he is leading the prayer meet at A-Train's funeral, and while delivering his sermon or speech, he sends out strong sound waves across the auditorium.

While his immense supernatural abilities are yet to be showcased more broadly, Oh-Father is known to be susceptible to brute force and high frequencies, as per the comic books.

However, more than his powers and his fake marriage with Ashley, something else sticks out that might serve as a bigger purpose for him in the season, which is filled with unexpected surprises.

Oh-Father might play a big role in Homelander’s quest

While Oh-Father was going on galivanting about his religious perspectives and his marital sham with Ashley, his connection to Samaritan's Embrace is what intrigued most viewers. In season 2, the FDA learned of the organization's part in Compound V activities, but that was completely changed by season 4. Homelander was seen hoarding the last of the supply in his apartment in the fourth season.

However, given that Homelander is reportedly looking for V1, the original strain of Compound V, in an attempt to become eternal, it cannot be a coincidence that it has reappeared. And this is where Oh-Father comes into the picture. He will help Homelander in his search for the compound. Altogether, these sum up Oh-Father’s role and motivations, and as more episodes come out, new information about the character will come to light.
