With just one episode left before The Boys wraps up its fifth and final season, fans are no longer just theorizing online, they are literally placing bets on who survives the bloodbath. The hit superhero satire has built a reputation for dramatic demises, brutal betrayals, and last-minute twists, making the finale one of the most unpredictable TV events of the year.
Now, discussion has escalated beyond fan forums and social media debates. Thousands of dollars are reportedly being wagered on prediction markets over which major characters will die before the credits roll. And with characters like Homelander, Billy Butcher, and The Deep all seemingly on borrowed time, the frenzy surrounding the finale has reached another level entirely.

As anticipation for the The Boys final episode explodes, fans have started treating the finale like a live sporting event. Prediction platform Polymarket has become flooded with wagers tied to character deaths, with some fans reportedly risking thousands of dollars over the outcome. One of the biggest names at the center of the chaos is Chace Crawford’s The Deep. During a recent interview with Today, Crawford reacted after learning that nearly $14,000 had been placed on whether his character survives the finale.
“It could be my $14,000! We don’t know,” Crawford playfully replied. “Insider trading… it’s still the wild west on Polymarket, right?”
Current betting trends heavily favor major casualties before the series concludes. Homelander reportedly sits at the top of the list, while The Deep and Billy Butcher are also viewed by fans as likely to die. With several core characters already eliminated throughout Season 5, viewers are bracing for one final massacre when the finale finally arrives.
The madness surrounding the ending only adds to a season already packed with outrageous moments, including one surprise celebrity cameo fans are still talking about.
Samuel L. Jackson’s wild cameo became one of Season 5’s biggest surprises
Amid all the death predictions and finale chaos, one of the season’s most unexpected moments came from Samuel L. Jackson’s viral appearance as Xander, the foul-mouthed hammerhead shark ally of The Deep. The cameo instantly became one of the most talked-about moments of the season. Speaking to Polygon, series creator Eric Kripke admitted Jackson had always been the dream choice for the role, even though the team never expected the Hollywood icon to actually agree.
“He was our first choice, and we were like, ‘Does he want to do this?’ It was really just taking a flyer. But then it came back, Oh yeah, he likes the show and totally, he’ll do it. Boy, that’s a bucket list moment, man, of Sam Jackson reading your dialogue,” Kripke told Polygon.

Xander originally appeared during The Deep’s underwater pursuit of A-Train before returning later in the season seeking revenge after a catastrophic pipeline disaster devastated ocean life. The cameo continued the show’s increasingly bizarre tradition of celebrity voice appearances, following Tilda Swinton’s memorable role as Ambrosius in Season 4.
After years of pushing superhero television into darker and more outrageous territory, The Boys is heading toward a finale where nobody feels safe. Whether Homelander finally falls, Billy Butcher meets his end, or The Deep somehow survives yet again, the uncertainty surrounding the final episode has become part of the event itself. And judging by the money fans are willing to spend predicting the outcome, viewers are clearly expecting the series to go out with one last unforgettable surprise.
