Almost all of the filming for Mortal Kombat II took place in Australia, primarily in Australia, which became the foundation on which the tantalizing world of the movie was built. The choice of the location was bang on as it gives a variety of terrain options for different scenes and moods - there are beaches, forests, the urban jungle, and many more such things.

In Queensland, the primary location for filming was the renowned Village Roadshow Studios located in Oxenford, Gold Coast. Interestingly, this location was used to film a number of significant scenes, such as battle scenes and tournament venues. Large sound stages in the studio were used to construct intricate sets for fantasy settings like Outworld. The versatility of the location contributed significantly to the overall quality of the end product.

There were plenty of outdoor spaces on the Gold Coast - a blessing for the film, which prevented it from being heavily dependent on in-studio, digitally rendered landscapes. Furthermore, the region's thriving film industry and stunning scenery make it a favorite destination for major Hollywood productions.
