The demanding job as an assistant at Runway magazine had Andrea Sachs running across the streets of New York, sometimes with coffee in hand, sometimes with a book, but always dressed in luxury collections in The Devil Wears Prada. From Dolce & Gabbana to Calvin Klein, the list is long. After all, this was New York, the fashion hub, teeming with high-fashion designers and major events.

The film also showed a few glimpses of the streets of Paris. Now, as the sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2 returns this year, set in an entirely new era, the next chapter visits even more fashion capitals than before.

New York, which is one of the world’s biggest fashion capitals and home to Runway magazine’s headquarters in The Devil Wears Prada 2, is also one of the filming locations. The film crew, including Meryl Streep, was seen shooting at the iconic McGraw-Hill Building at 1221 Avenue of the Americas. From SoHo and Brooklyn to the American Museum of Natural History, many more NYC locations are set to feature in the film, as the crew was spotted filming across these spots.

Another location set to be explored in the film is Long Island, where the crew was seen filming at an $8.3 million waterfront estate on Centre Island Road. It was later confirmed through a brief glimpse of the chef’s kitchen in the trailer, which is believed to be part of the property. The film will also have sweeping views of picturesque destinations such as Lake Como.

The trailer shows Andrea and Emily arriving at the famous Villa Balbiano in Ossuccio, Lombardy, Italy. Another not-so-secret location is Milan, where the characters were seen attending Milan Fashion Week. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were spotted sitting front row at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 show on September 27, 2025.

For a film that spans multiple locations across the globe, airport scenes are just as important. In early September 2025, the crew reportedly visited Newark, New Jersey. While several locations have been revealed, the purpose and story behind them remain a secret until the film arrives on May 1, 2026.

It is not just the locations, the sequel also leans heavily on fashion, with plenty of brands having lined up, perhaps a few too many, even leading to chaos.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is one of the biggest upcoming films for fashion enthusiasts as well as moviegoers. As costume designer Molly Rogers revealed, several major brands were eager to be featured in the film, largely thanks to the impact of the first movie. Because of this massive offering, the team had to make tough editing choices, leaving out some of the most exciting recent pieces from top labels. 

"It was a lot of editing and saying 'Oh, I cannot believe we are kicking that bag out the door," Rogers said during her interview in The Who What Wear Podcast. 

This is not surprising, considering how The Devil Wears Prada shaped the 2000s fashion and remains relevant even today. Naturally, the sequel has attracted even more brands this time. Although it was a good problem, it still required careful handling for the team. Even so, the film is expected to show some of the best bags, shoes, and fashion from the current era, much like it does with its choice of locations.
