The golden era of sitcoms and their cultural impact seems to have waned. Yet what has remained unchanged is the affection for nostalgic global favourites like Friends and The Office, which continue to be widely rewatched as comforting shows. Made in the same vein is the famous mockumentary, Parks and Recreation.

This beloved staple carries the same warmth, humor, and something that brings back nostalgia. After its final run in 2015, the series remains on the watchlist as a comforting rewatch. So, is the show available to stream online?

Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Paul Schneider, Nick Offerman, and several other notable names, ran from 2009 to 2015. Unfortunately, it is not available to stream on Netflix just yet. However, for those who wish to rewatch the show, it is available to buy on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, who previously worked on the American version of The Office, Parks and Recreation follows the bizarre happenings in the fictional Indiana town of Pawnee and public official, Leslie Knope, in the parks department. Now, as popular as workplace sitcoms are, they are far from easy to pull off.

In an era where the bar has been set so high by nostalgic classics, many recent shows tend to fade quickly. However, one workplace sitcom that has made quite a buzz is Quinta Brunson’s Abbott Elementary. The series follows a group of teachers working in an underfunded school.

And much like Abbott Elementary, there are several other shows that may not have received the same level of hype but are worth watching.

3 Sitcoms that deserve a watch after Parks and Recreation

Those who have watched Parks and Recreation will have no trouble recalling Ben Wyatt, played by Adam Scott. He returned for another hilarious comedic ride in Party Down, which follows a group of caterers trying their luck at building acting careers. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after just two seasons.

Meanwhile, another brilliant workplace sitcom is the British series Green Wing. Set in a hospital, the show has lighthearted humor, which is comforting to watch. This, too, ended after only two seasons. Speaking of workplace sitcoms, one cannot forget Superstore, which follows employees working at Cloud 9, a fictional big-box megastore.
